Artificial Intelligence and AgriTech Innovation Center (AIAIC) is an institutional arm of the Agriculture Department, Government of Maharashtra, to anchor the state’s Agri-AI vision. It functions as a platform for ecosystem building, bringing together data, technology, policy, and partnerships to enable responsible, scalable, and farmer-centric AI innovation in agriculture. AIAIC aims to create the enabling foundations for Agri-AI adoption by supporting innovation pathways across research, pilots, and scale-up. Through a focus on digital public infrastructure, capacity building, and responsible AI practices, AIAIC aspires to position Maharashtra as a leading hub for AI-driven agricultural innovation where success is ultimately reflected in measurable improvements in agricultural productivity, resilience, and farmer outcomes at scale.

Focus Area

MahaAgX-Agri-Data Exchange Platform:

MahaAgX is a digital public infrastructure that enables secure, consent-based exchange of agricultural datasets across stakeholders. It provides the foundational data layer that powers AI, analytics, and innovation across Maharashtra’s agri-ecosystem.

MahaVISTAAR – AI-Powered Agricultural Advisory

MahaVISTAAR is a bilingual (English–Marathi) AI-powered advisory platform delivering timely, crop- and location-specific guidance to farmers. Through voice and text interfaces, it enables personalised advisories, best-practice recommendations, and decision support, strengthening extension services and improving on-field outcomes.

AI-Enabled Remote Sensing & Geospatial Intelligence Engine

A unified AI-powered engine that processes satellite, drone, and various field data to generate actionable insights for agriculture. It supports crop monitoring, stress detection, yield estimation, and climate risk assessment enabling data-driven planning, timely interventions, and informed decision-making across Maharashtra’s agri-ecosystem.

AI-Powered Statewide Traceability Platform

A statewide digital public infrastructure enabling end-to-end traceability across agricultural value chains. Powered by AI, the platform will capture and verify data from farm to market, supporting quality assurance, compliance, and transparency, while strengthening market access and trust for Maharashtra’s agricultural produce.

Innovation Funding

AIAIC supports innovation through structured funding programs that enable startups, researchers, and institutions to develop, pilot, and scale AI-driven solutions for agriculture. Funding is aligned with real-world needs across crops, regions, and farming systems, with emphasis on field validation, farmer relevance, and scalable impact

Capacity Building & Last-Mile Adoption

AIAIC strengthens adoption of AI and digital tools through structured capacity-building programs for farmers, extension workers, FPOs, and institutions. By combining training, field demonstrations, and on-ground support, we enable effective last-mile adoption and sustained use of AI-driven solutions across Maharashtra.

AI4Agri – Global Conference & Innovation Platform

AI4Agri is AIAIC’s flagship global platform bringing together policymakers, researchers, startups, industry leaders, investors, and farmers to advance AI-led transformation in agriculture. The platform enables knowledge exchange, innovation showcase, partnerships, and investment propeling Maharashtra as a global hub for responsible and scalable AI in agriculture.
